Dear MCA Parents,
This generation is being called by many “The Anxious Generation.” According to the American Psychological Association, more than 90% of Gen Z report experiencing physical or emotional symptoms due to stress, and rates of anxiety and depression have sharply increased over the past decade.
Researchers are finding strong links between these trends and excessive screen time. In a recent national survey of teens, 35% reported spending 4–6 hours a day on screens, while an even more alarming 30% reported spending 6+ hours daily.
As parents and educators, we share a responsibility to guide our children toward healthier rhythms. I encourage you to have intentional conversations with your children about screen use and to establish healthy boundaries that allow for rest, connection, and growth beyond the digital world.
Together, we can support our students in building strong foundations for both their mental and spiritual well-being.
Blessings,
Deb Larson-Jarpe, Head of School
